Running — Part IV — The snail
- Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast
- Slow is pro
- Slow and steady wins the race
- Chi va piano, va sano e va lontano
I’m thinking about these sayings and proverbs these days as I get back into running. After a couple of years of non-training, I need to rebuild a lot.
And so it was wonderful that last week when I was in New Orleans for the Jazz & Heritage Festival, I found this cool piece of art by Ink Worm Studio of a snail. I had to buy it and frame it.
I also had a great run that weekend (Saturday, 4 May 2024); Tuesday and Yesterday (Saturday, 11 May 2024) have been great runs, too. They may not have been super fast or even the pace I wanted them to be, but I enjoyed them and felt good afterward.
I will keep running once or twice until the end of June before going to Italy, and once I’m back, I will start with 16 weeks of marathon training. I am still deciding which one I will follow as I’m still figuring out the one that will allow me to practice yoga 2 or 3 times a week. I have many options, and I’ll probably write about training plans in one of the following posts.
Please comment on this post if you have any suggestions for a marathon plan for an Ashtanga yogi.
