That’s the subject of the email I received last week, March 28, 2024.

I’ll be running the TCS New York City Marathon in 210 days.

I will use Medium to write about my journey towards the marathon, sharing some thoughts, experiences, and training plan check-ins.

Running a marathon is a wonderful experience, and I have always wanted to take part in the New York City Marathon.

Even if I ran ten marathons (9 official and one non-official), I am excited and nervous about the training and, obviously, the race.

In the past two years, I’ve drastically reduced my running since I am now a dedicated Ashtanga yogi, so this training towards this marathon will be unique.

I practice yoga six times a week, and I don’t have much energy and time left after my daily practice, so it will be interesting to see how my yoga/running schedule will evolve in the next five months.

I plan to start my 16 weeks of marathon training starting from July 15; however, I will likely integrate weekly runs, once or twice a week, as soon as possible.

For now, these are the things that I’ve done in preparation for my marathon:

  • I compiled a Google Sheet with the countdown calendar and a list of paces based on a predicted marathon time (see image below).
  • I bought a pair of Nike Pegasus 40 (I still need to use them).
  • I bought the mattiaerre.com domain because I want to publish my running (and maybe yoga) blog there.

I plan to publish a post once a week, so if you’re interested in any particular aspect of this journey, please let me know, and I’ll be sure to share more about it.
